Supporting Staff to Support Students (S2S) – Professional Development Opportunities
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) in partnership with the Massachusetts School Mental Health Consortium (MASMHC), the International Trauma Center (ITC), Boston Children’s Foundation, and the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) is excited to continue offering professional development opportunities designed to improve schools’ and districts’ use of evidence-based practices to support student mental health and well-being. Training sessions will be offered periodically throughout the 23-24 school year. Participants can enroll in one or more training series. All training series are free of charge and will be offered virtually. Linked below are the info sheets for each training opportunity. Two informational sessions have been scheduled to orient teams to the available professional development and to provide a forum for feedback and to answer questions. Please join us at one of the orientations sessions scheduled for October 3 at 11:00 or October 12 at 3:00 and review the 2022-23 PD offerings below:

Rainbowdance© is a parent/teacher friendly intervention, which encourages self esteem, self regulation and social empathy through the use of repetitive gesture, song, and movement. As the number of infants and toddlers attending full time day care programs increases, the opportunity for dyadic relationship building decreases.
Rainbowdance© provides children with the opportunity to experience the attachment to the peer group necessary for healthy relationship building, minimizing an orientation toward peer violence.

Rainbowdance Travels to Connecticut
April 2019 was a busy month for BCF! In addition to ongoing trainings in Sonoma, CA, Washington, D.C., and locally in Boston, Dicki, Rachel & Robert travelled to Enfield, CT to spread the magic of Rainbowdance. For the very first time in Enfield area school districts, the largest gathering of educators, mental health clinicians, school administrators, and community members came together to train in the Basic Attunement Model of Rainbowdance. Congratulations to the 37 newest Rainbowdance trainees!
