Trauma Informed Care: What is it Exactly and Why is it Here to Stay?
April 19, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Trauma exposure is very often a fundamental issue in the lives of the youth and adults we serve. The term Trauma Informed Care is the new mandate, but defining it and implementing it across systems of care is often confusing. The needs of individuals struggling with post traumatic challenges and those who care for them are often not well defined. Sandra Bloom, MD suggests that we start by breaking down the term Trauma Informed Care and create a continuum of designations to include trauma informed, trauma responsive, and trauma specific depending on the needs of traumatized clients, and the mission of the organizations serving them.
Dr. Sandra Bloom and Dr. Robert Macy, two internationally acclaimed presenters and researchers in the field of psychological trauma will conduct a full day training focused on Trauma Informed Care implementation and dissemination.
